" I would treat the central sulci of the frogs, daily, until they are fully open or filled in (no deep crevase to hide infection or cause pain).
I would use rockers (see link below) on both feet, but in different ways:
On the high foot, I would use the rocker to allow the extra height (at the bar/wall junction) that this limb may need, while rockering behind the bar/wall junction to keep the foot out of the way of longer stride and heel-first impact as training and body work will allow.
On the lower foot, I would use the rocker to prevent under-running of the heel tubules.
On both fronts, I would keep the heels as low as possible without causing toe-first impacts or sensitivity. At first, both feet would likely need about 1/4"-3/8" (6-9mm) of height above the sole plan (at the bar/wall junction). The limiting factors (or resons for this) would likely be flexor tension on the high foot, and caudal foot sensitivity on the lower foot."
"There is good wall connection only in the upper 1/3 of the hoof capsules -- the laminae seperate all the way around below this line. You need to remedy this and grow well-connected walls. If you have only been feeding this diet for 3-4 months, hold where you are; it may be just right. If, however, you have been feeding this diet for a longer period, you may want to make change -- first, probably, in the form of carbohydrate reduction.
Same goes with trim cycle. Wall seperation can persist simply because the trim cycle is too long. Each maintenance trim should be done BEFORE the walls overgrow and flare.
And finally, trim style/method could be tweaked to help grow well-connected walls. I feel that when the walls are thinned vertically so that there is no wall width left at ground level, 1) there is an unnecessary increase in risk and sensitivity at the solar corium, and 2) the thinned (weakened) wall more readily flares.
To me, it is a better strategy to leave the quarters standing 1/8" (3mm) taller than the sole and bevel the entire width of the wall on a 45-ish degree angle. Then you can still top dress the flare a bit, but be sure you leave the 45 degree bevel at least 3/8" (9mm) wide."
"For now, keep doing as you are with breakover (from 10:00-2:00 around the toe). It may need to come back (particularly on the high foot), but not yet. Implement the above suggestions first."
