This may surprise Many people who do not Think about ping pong To be one of the big medal hopes for Great Britain this summer, however, I truly think I can beat anybody on the planet - and that includes the Chinese - https://github.com/pingpongsport/bestpingpong/wiki/Best-Ping-Pong-Paddles-&-How-To-Choose-Them.
That is not to say I am not aware of how difficult it will be In the Games. China's players would be the favorites in ping pong, and with good reason: they've won 20 out of the 24 gold medals since the sport came into the Olympics in 1988 and still dominate the entire world rankings.
Why are they good? It comes down to lots of factors. One Thing is their knowledge of the sport. They have been in the top for many years which means All their coaches are previous Olympic and world champions.
This knowledge is passed down all of the way from the top. Their work ethic and training program, especially from such a young age, is also exceptional. By Age five or six, the Chinese gamers are located at the national center or in regional centers where They're already hitting table-tennis balls non-stop for five or six hours a day.
That beds in this type of solid technique and style. From the Time they reach age 15 or 16, they're so well developed that they're almost like a veteran player already with the number of hours they've experienced on the table. Their consistency is since They've trained for a lot of hours out of such a young age.
In Europe, you obviously have college and it is not until 15 Or 16 that you start training to the exact same extent. If you told the the Chinese, then they would probably just laugh and say that is too late but our system does work; we've experienced European and World Champions. And I also do not believe a trophy is from my reach top ping pong table.
I am seeded 46th therefore there is little expectation from the Rankings but I think the majority of the top players would not need me at the draw. At the test event, I chose the very first match against the Chinese world number two and pushed him near the third and second. The best players know that when I play at my best, I could push All of these. The second has arrived and I'm focussed on inducing some upsets.
I feel like I am playing the best table-tennis of my career. I am certainly in the best form I've ever been in both physically and mentally. I have just got to be certain that I do not allow the event for the best of me. There are going to be 4,000 people inside the ExCeL centre. It is going to be a different sort of environment than we're Utilized to and We Must get over that quickly.
We have to use the crowd to our benefit and not let them Put off us because, in one way, it'll be quite a frightening experience. What all of the Team GB athletes have to understand is this is just another championship, another game, something we practice for all our lives, so there is no reason why we should Allow the nerves influence us.
Our six-strong team of players came in the Olympic Village on Tuesday and first impressions couldn't have been any greater: what is simply amazing.
The atmosphere is incredible; every time you see a person From the Great Britain team, even if you have never met them earlier, it is 'Hello, how are you doing and good morning'. You can definitely feel that the vibe round the village which everyone is raring to go.
The facilities are better than I anticipated, from the Apartments to the transportation which has all been very smooth. It is odd Because when you're in the village ping pong robot machine, with so much going on, you may sometimes Almost forget that it's the Olympics. However, when you get on the team bus, then go to The place and see all your competitors training, the importance of a tournament that You have spent years working towards really strikes home.
